Half Of Irish Listeners Choose Local Radio

According to the latest Irish listenership figures, the JNLR/MRBI November Interim report which was released this week, 50% of all listeners heard a local independent radio station “yesterday”, over the period April to September 1994.

Although the interim report does not indicate market share, Michael O’Keeffe, Chief Executive of the Independent Radio and Television Commission said that the Commission was very encouraged that independent local radio was maintaining its lead over RTE Radio 1. “The survey shows that independent local radio is continuing to attract half of the country’s listeners while RTE Radio 1 attracts 36% and 2FM 28%,” he said.
