ITV’s football coverage loses out to Survivors

Football ITV1’s live coverage of the UEFA Champions League match only managed to pull in 3.3 million average viewers between 7.30pm and 10pm last night.

Around 4.2 million peak viewers tuned in during the second half of the game to see Chelsea beat CFR Cluj 2-1, securing a 14.6% average audience share for the commercial broadcaster.

Meanwhile, BBC One’s 9pm drama Survivors, with Julie Graham and Max Beesley, attracted more than 5 million peak viewers and a 20.8% audience share.

At the same time, Channel 4’s new reality series Country Home Rescue picked up 2.3 million average viewers, while more than 2 million viewers tuned into Five’s popular CSI: Miami.

However, BBC One’s Eastenders banked the peak audience of the evening, pulling in almost 10 million peak viewers and a 43.9% audience share between 7.30pm and 8pm.

The trip to the square saw Whitney finally confess her secret to Bianca, who struggled to come to terms with it until she overheard a conversation between Tony and his young lover.
