UKTV appoints Porritt as commercial head

UKTV Logo UKTV has appointed Keith Porritt to the role of executive director of commercial, replacing Laurence Dawkin-Jones.

Porritt, who will report directly to UKTV’s chief executive David Abraham, will have overall responsibility for UKTV’s pay TV relationships, as well as programme supply relationships with the BBC and independent producers.

Commercial activities, business development, as well as legal and business affairs will also come under Porritt’s remit when he takes up the role on January 5.

However, his role is separate from UKTV’s ad sales activity, which is currently handled by IDS.

Porritt was previously general counsel for Sparrowhawk Media, which was bought out by NBC Universal.

Last week, UKTV unveiled plans to introduce advertising within its online applications, in a bid to create new revenue streams (see UKTV set to introduce ads within online applications).
