Online Poll Winner Marks Launch Of NME Radio

Radio An online poll to decide the first ever track to be played on NME Radio saw 3.5million votes cast via NME.COM.

The Muse song ‘Knights of Cydonia’ topped the poll to launch the station, kicking off the Claire Sturgess show at 11am.

NME publishing director Paul Cheal said: “By casting of millions of votes, NME.COM’s users have shown just how passionate they are about their favourite bands. We couldn’t have got NME Radio off to a better start.”

NME Radio is now available via Sky 0184, Virgin Media 975, nmeradio.co.uk and shortly in various locations on DAB. The station will also be available on FM at various times around the UK via a series of RSL trial broadcasts commencing London on October 6.
