Last night was the European Championship final on BBC One, with Spain running out worthy 1-0 winners against a pedestrian German side.
A peak of 11.2 million adult viewers watched the game, a 45.7% share of the audience, while an average of 8.2 million (a 37.7% share) stayed with the coverage for its full three hour running time.
The second most watched show of the night was Top Gear on BBC Two, with a peak audience of 4.7 million adult viewers (a 19.1% share) in its 8pm slot.
Over on ITV1 at the same time was The Royal, which managed to pick up a peak of 4.4 million adults (an 18.10% share).
Reality show Big Brother, on Channel 4 at 10pm, had a peak of 2.6 million adult viewers (a 10.9% share), with an average of 2.2 million sticking with it for its hour long running time.
