Tv Viewing Continues In Decline – IPA Viewing Report

The IPA has released its latest Trends in Television Viewing Report, for Q3 1994. The decline in the overall amount of television viewed measured by BARB continues but still at the slightly slower rate observed last quarter.

ITV seems to be regaining some ground, and pushing the BBC share, especially BBC2, back down a little. C4’s share remains at around 11%. The overall patronage figures for all television channels (patronage is the percentage of the population tuning to a channel for at least three minutes during the week) are very similar to the figures for the same months of 1993.

The profile of ITV viewing by age continues to mirror the profile of all TV viewing, with the social class profile relatively down market. This is now a well-established pattern.
