Football Schedule Kicks Off

The football season edges ever closer as Sky Sports and Setanta both release their fixtures lists for the first few months of the year, with more matches to be confirmed as the season progresses.

Sky is pleased that the top three from last season are all live on the channel in the first weekend of the season, which will come as a relief to English football deprived fans across the country, having had no home team to cheer on in the European championship.

Over the season, Sky will offer 92 live matches, with delayed coverage of a further 242 games and the opportunity for Sky digital viewers to be able to choose highlights from a range of games on Football First: Match Choice.

Announcing the initial live matches on Sky Sports, Vic Wakeling, Managing Director of Sky Sports, said: “We think this is our best start to a season in 17 years of Premier League football on Sky. We see last season’s top three on the first weekend – we see five Big Four head-to-heads – eight big derby matches – and, most important of all, all 20 clubs are live in the first four months of the season.”
