Britain’s Got Talents draws in over 13m viewers

Britain's Got Talent ITV1’s big ratings-winner Britain’s Got Talent reached a high of more than 13.1 million viewers between 8.30pm and 10pm last night.

Over 12.3 million average viewers tuned in to see eight more acts perform in the fourth semi-final, in front of an audience and judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan, in a bid to win a place in Saturday’s final.

The talent programme pulled in around ten million more viewers than its rival terrestrial channels during the peak-slot, with an impressive 51.2% average audience share.

BBC One’s new documentary, Tourette’s – I Swear I Can’t Help It, attracted 2.6 million peak viewers and a 10% average share during the all-important 9pm to 10pm slot.

Meanwhile, Five’s popular crime series The Mentalist pulled in more than 1.5 million average viewers and BBC Two’s Keep It in the Family, about Austins Department Store, picked up 1.2 million.

At the same time, Channel 4’s Cutting Edge – The Building Inspector is Coming, which followed inspectors from Birmingham City Council’s building control unit, attracted just over a million viewers and a 4.2% average share.

Earlier on in the evening, ITV1’s Coronation Street won the battle of the soaps with a peak of 7.8 million viewers, compared with its BBC One rival Eastenders‘ 6.6 million.
