BBC One’s Ashes to Ashes drama secured the highest ratings during the all-important 9pm to 10pm peak-hour last night.
Over 5.7 million peak viewers tuned in to see the fourth episode in the eight-part series, starring Philip Glenister and Dean Andrews, banking a 24% average audience share for BBC One.
At the same time, the third episode of ITV1’s ever-popular Cops with Cameras pulled in more than 3.6 million average viewers and a 16.5% share.
Channel 4’s new three-part Find Me a Family series, meanwhile, attracted just 1.3 million average viewers and a 6.1% share during the 9pm to 10pm slot.
The first edition followed adoption campaigner and journalist David Akinsanya as he attempted to convince would-be adopters to provide a home for children who no-one else has come forward for.
Elsewhere, the first of two consecutive episodes of BBC Two’s Heroes picked up 1.2 million average viewers between 9pm and 9.45pm, while the second show – the final of series three – pulled in 1.5 million.
Five’s 9 o’clock film Angel Eyes – the romantic drama starring Jennifer Lopez – attracted over 1 million peak viewers in the first fifteen minutes but slipped down to an average of 839,000 viewers and a 4.3% share between the full 9pm to 11pm slot.
Earlier on in the evening, ITV1’s Coronation Street won the battle of soaps with a peak of more than 9.1 million viewers, ahead of BBC One’s Eastenders‘ high of 8.5 million.
