Vodafone makes UK mobile advertising role redundant

Vodafone Vodafone UK has made Shan Henderson, its head of mobile advertising and industry development, redundant and merged his responsibilities into a global role.

Henderson’s UK ad role has been axed as the telecom operator is looking to take advantage of the increasing number of global ad campaigns, according to reports.

Erik de Kroon, head of marketing for internet discover at Vodafone Group, who currently reports into internet services director Pieter Knook, will take over Henderson’s workload.

Henderson first joined Vodafone in 2007 as deputy head of digital and has since worked on a number of initiatives, including developing Yahoo!’s role as an exclusive ad sales partner.

He has also pushed through a series of new mobile ad formats and has worked closely with industry bodies, such as GSMA, MMA and the IAB on industry measurement and standards.
