Google has promoted Matt Brittin from his UK client sales chief position to head up its UK operations, replacing Dennis Woodside, who is set to become the search giant’s head of ad sales in the US.
Woodside, in turn, will replace Tim Armstrong who is joining AOL as its global chief executive, according to reports.
However, Google has confirmed that the role of Mark Howe, who currently runs Google’s UK agency sales operation, will remain unchanged.
Brittin joined Google just over two years ago to run its UK direct sales – prior to that, he was director of strategy and digital at Trinity Mirror.
His new responsibilities will include overseeing Google’s agency and sales operations teams.
“We are working hard with our UK partners and customers to help them take advantage of the online opportunity, particularly at this time,” Brittin said.
Woodside, who joined the search giant in 2003, will head up Google’s advertising in the US, Canada and Latin America.
