ITV1’s Ladette to Lady managed to pip BBC Two’s popular Mary Queen of Charity Shops to the top spot during the all-important peak-hour with 3.1 million peak viewers.
Both programmes secured more than 3 million average viewers between 9pm and 10pm but ITV1 marginally took the lead in terms of audience share with 14% compared to BBC Two’s 13.9% average share.
At the same time, the first of three consecutive episodes of Five’s long-running CSI: Crime Scene Investigation pulled in over 2.8 million average viewers and a 12.9% share.
BBC One’s new two-part documentary, Living with Monkeys: Tales from the Treetops, which followed Primatologist Julie Anderson and writer Guy Grieve as they spend five weeks living in the Gabon rainforest, attracted 2.4 million average viewers and a 11.4% share.
Elsewhere, Channel 4’s I’m Running Sainsbury’s picked up a fairly low 1.5 million viewers and a 7% average audience share during the peak-hour slot.
Earlier on in the evening, BBC One’s Eastenders pulled in the overall highest ratings of the night with 6.5 million peak viewers, despite direct competition from ITV1’s special hour-long Emmerdale, which attracted a high of 6.2 million viewers.
