Google has launched a new version of YouTube which makes the video site accessible on large TVs or computer screens.
YouTube XL features simplified navigation and large text, and will run on any browser providing Flash is installed.
In addition, as it has a simpler interface, there are no comments, suggested videos or ads.
paidContent.org reports that Kuan Yong, product manager for YouTube platforms, said YouTube XL would serve as the default web-to-TV video interface moving forward, since developing custom apps for individual TV manufacturers is not scalable.
Last month, Google integrated its Analytics software into YouTube brand channels, giving brands and content publishers access to previously unavailable information (see Google Analytics integrated into YouTube brand channels).
The move enables advertisers and partners with brand channels to, for example, monitor geographic information within the Google Analytics maps overlay, which can also narrow results by segment.
