Calls For Chairman Of PCC To Stand Down

There have been calls for the resignation of the chairman of the Press Complaints Commission, Lord McGregor, after he admitted he had not read the article in the News of the World regarding Princess Diana and the nuisance telephone calls, despite the fact he had ruled earlier that it did not constitute a breach of privacy. He also admitted that he had not read Diana’s denial in the Daily Mail. Michael Fabricant, a member of the Commons National Heritage Select Committee, said that McGregor’s admissions had damaged the credibility of the PCC.
