MTV is set to rebrand its MTV One channels as MTV and MTV+ from July 1 as part of a wider overhaul of the brand.
MTV One, which features programmes including Kerry Katona: What’s the Problem?, The Hills and My Super Sweet 16, was originally rebranded from MTV in 2007 with its time-shifted sister channel MTV One+ launching a year later.
MTV’s five-strong portfolio also includes the alterative music channel MTV Two, RnB channel MTV Base, chart channel MTV Hits, MTV Dance and entertainment channel MTV R.
The broadcaster rebranded the channels two years ago in a bid to create new network identity across the whole portfolio.
MTV confirmed the recent rebrand but failed to unveil any details about the upcoming launch.
The broadcaster’s international arm is also thought to be planning to launch a major new online music video archive initiative in the UK later this year.
MTV Music will form part of the company’s global digital strategy, which aims to bring together the brand’s complete archive and position it as the leading international music hub.
