Press Gazette, the monthly trade magazine for journalists, is set to cease printing after more than 40 years.
The magazine’s parent company, the Wilmington Group, said the final issue of the title would be its May edition, which goes on sale this month.
A company spokesperson said: “”Unfortunately Press Gazette, along with much of the profession, has suffered from a declining market during these years and its losses have increased.
“We have therefore been forced to conclude that the market required to sustain a commercially viable Press Gazette magazine no longer exists.”
Six full-time staff across the commercial and editorial teams are thought to be in consultation at the publishing group as a result of the closure.
The title’s website will no longer carry editorial content, but will instead offer information for journalists – the group also confirmed that it will continue with the British Press Awards and other key events.
Press Gazette, which currently has 2,500 paying subscribers, was bought by the Wilmington Group after it went into administration in December 2006.
