The Sun is set to launch a live TV quiz show

The Sun The Sun has teamed up with Fremantle Media to create a live, interactive gameshow for the The Sun Online in a bid to expand its digital offering.

Sun Quiz Live, which will roll-out in the summer, enables users to play against each other in real time, as well as interact with the presenter, crew and their fellow players.

The gameshow, which will be scheduled for two hours per day, five days per week, will be based on a variety of word, number and logic puzzles and will last for a few minutes each.

Visitors to The Sun‘s website will be able to watch for free but the games will be offered on a pay-to-play basis.

The new launch comes as part of News International’s £1 million investment in to new TV and radio stations, and marks the tabloid’s latest phase of digital development.

Earlier this month, The Sun also unveiled plans to launch an online radio station – Sun Talk – which will be hosted by former talkSPORT host and current Sun columnist Jon Gaunt.

The station is due to broadcast every morning for three hours and reach 150,000 listeners within its first year.

In the latest ABCe results, Sun Online managed to take over from Guardian.co.uk as the most popular online destination for national news (see ABCe February 2009: Sun Online takes the top spot).

The Sun’s online offering has experienced significant growth in recent months – up by 5.5 million unique users in February (118% year on year) to a total of 27 million users, and is still 116 million page impressions in front of its nearest rival.
