The Independent is investing in a new online video player that will host short-form content across its website, such as Bebo’s online drama, The Gap Year.
The new video channel, still in development stages, is being set up to replace the site’s previous channel, which was taken down several months ago.
A wider range of content on the new player, which has been produced specifically for the channel, is expected to be rolled out over the next few weeks.
VoD marketing specialist The Web TV Enterprise will be involved in setting up brand sponsors, who will receive in-paper promotional branding, exposure on the website and pre-roll content ads.
The Independent‘s first partnership is with Endemol UK to host its series, The Gap Year, on the popular student section of the site.
