Lottery: Regional Press Is Important

The Newspaper Society has arranged a meeting with Camelot, the consortium which won the contract to run the National Lottery, to emphasise the importance of using regional press in lottery promotion, in order to involve the community. Roger Holland, head of marketing at the Newspaper Society, has said that “the regional press is in a unique position to target local consumers, providing detailed information on local outlets, opening times, addresses and maps.”

BBC FAVOURITE TO RUN LOTTERY SHOW

The BBC is expected to beat ITV to the rights to show the National Lottery draw. No deal is finalised, but Tim Holley, Camelot chief executive said the BBC “had made a very good case”; BBC is favoured because it can do a simultaneous broadcast on radio and television. The programme is expected to attract audiences of around 23 million.
