The satellite hard-core pornography channel, Red Hot Television, which has resumed transmission in Britain, is being investigated by Scotland Yard’s obscene publications squad. It had been banned from operating in Britain in May but the Government is unable to prevent it being beamed here from Sweden. The squad are looking for evidence of the channel carrying out commercial activities in Britain in order to take action.

It is revealed in today’s FT that Chris Carey, chairman of Buzz FM, is running a business selling unauthorised de- coders for channels using the Eurocrypt security system.
