The Times Offers Price Cut For Year

The Times has offered to freeze the 30p weekday and 40p Saturday price cuts for the whole year to those readers who subscribe to a regular daily copy for the year. Peter Stothard, editor of The Times says, “This is an important new commitment both to those who have long been regular buyers of The Times and to the many tens of thousands who have joined us more recently”.

The Times was not committing itself to how long the present slashed prices can last; “We have no plans to increase the general cover price. But it is always impossible to predict the pressures of rising costs.”
