Channel One Delayed Due To Rescheduling

Channel One, the London cable television service owned by Associated Newspapers which was due to launch on 1 April, is delaying the launch until the autumn.

This is due to major rescheduling plans; originally the channel’s plans were for 4-5 hours programming daily. This is to be increased to a round the clock service, with a mainly news format throughout the day, switching to light entertainment programmes for the evening and night.

The advertising budget for the launch has increased considerably because of the delay, doubling to £40m. Further details should be available early next week.
