National Magazine Company is to reduce the price of the August issue of House Beautiful to £1 from £1.40. The move is officially to boost the weak summer market, although industry speculation suggests it could be the start of a cover price war among the home interest market.
Orpheus Publications has bought Period House and Its Garden from DMG Home Interest Magazines, part of the Daily Mail and General Trust Group.
DMG Exhibition Group, also part of the Daily Mail and General Trust Group, is to acquire Metropress, publisher of Antiques Trade Gazette, in October.
