Advertisers Angry Over C5 Document

Both the IPA and ISBA have reacted angrily to the ITC plans for Channel 5. The ITC’s decision to await a government announcement on digital television has brought claims that the ITC has bowed to pressure from the ITC companies, who are against an increase in competition. A statement issued by ISBA said, “ISBA believes the scope for digital technology should not be allowed to stand in the way of the opportunity for a fifth channel.”

CHANNEL 4 APOLOGY

The ITC has ordered Channel 4 to broadcast an apology because of an offensive remark make by an actor on an edition of The Word in December. Channel 4 breached the terms of its licence by transmittting the remark, and has been asked to improve its procedures for controlling live programmes.
