Breakfast TV viewing, along with viewing of satellite channels aimed at children/family audiences all saw marked improvements this week – as a result of half term holidays.

Particular channels to benefit were as follows:

Amongst breakfast viewing GMTV fared best with a reach amongst individuals coming in at 14.6m – its highest figure since the same week last year.

Overall viewing to all terrestrial channels improved, with ITV and BBC1 increasing by 41 and 14 minutes respectively on the previous week. Shares however remained relatively constant.

New programmes doing well included ITV’s one-off pilot ‘Paparazzo’, starring Nick Berry which just made it into the Top 20 programmes list with 12.75 million viewers; and on a smaller scale the first episode of C4’s twice weekly soap ‘Hollyoaks’ made it into C4’s Top 10 with 2.93 million viewers. The soap’s second episode however only reached 1.89 million viewers.
