Mohan favourite to be named editor of The Sun

The Sun‘s deputy editor Dominic Mohan has been tipped as the favourite to replace former editor Rebekah Wade.

In June, Wade – who is now better known as Brooks following her second marriage – was promoted from her position at The Sun to chief executive of Rupert Murdoch’s UK newspaper division, News International.

Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of parent company News Corporation, has since delayed appointing a replacement for Wade and is thought to have expressed doubts over Mohan’s ability to run the red-top paper.

However, Wade is reportedly backing her former right-hand-man Mohan, who previously headed up the tabloid’s gossip column, Bizarre.

Other potential candidates for the job include the Daily Mirror‘s editor Richard Wallace, editor in chief at the Telegraph Media Group Will Lewis, the New York Post‘s managing editor Jesses Angelo and finally, Stefano Hatfield, editor of thelondonpaper, which is due to close.
