Kate’s Last Heartbeat Attracts 16 Million Viewers

Yorkshire television’s drama series Heartbeat shown on Sunday 17th of September was watched by 16.42 million people. This episode, which featured the death of Doctor Kate Rowan was the most viewed programme ahead of Friday night’s edition of Coronation Street which had 16.20 million; London’s Burning was third with 15.92 million.

The new series of Gladiators has started off poorly, only being watched by 8.22 million viewers and appearing at number 29 in the top thirty programmes list; the previous series had an average of 13 million viewers. Other programmes doing well include Central’s Family Fortunes which bettered last week’s viewing figure, up from 9.23 million to 10.03 million; and the new series of BBC1’s How Do They Do That? which attracted 9.38 million viewers.

Overall television viewing for the week ending 17/09/95 has fallen by 3% on the same week last year, this is the seventh consecutive week that television viewing has fallen.
