69% Of Adults Read Specialist Magazines

According to IPC research, well over two thirds of adults in the UK read a specialist magazine, and the medium has a younger and more upmarket profile than either daily or Sunday newspapers.

IPC Magazines research was designed to establish the readership profile of all categories of specialist titles. The main findings include:

  • 69% of GB adults (30,887,000) read a specialist magazine, including 78% of men (16,852,000) and 74% of ABC1s (16,420,000)
  • Specialist magazines are biased towards men (55% of readers are male), ABC1s (53%) and young people (37% are in the age group 16-34).
  • Readers are more likely than the average to work full time, have no children living in the household and be single.

The research programme was based on a sample of 49,000 individuals aged 16+ covering 24 categories of specialist magazines.
