FHM is cutting the cover price of its November issue by £1.40 to £2.50 in a bid to reclaim its title as the biggest selling men’s consumer paid-for magazine.
Bauer Media, which claims the price cut is a one-off for the November issue, will lose hundreds of thousands of pounds in cover price revenue, according to reports.
The move comes at the same time as the men’s monthly title undergoes its redesign, which is aiming to put an end to the magazine’s lads mag image and encourage a better class of readers.
In the latest ABC release (for January to June 2009) FHM lost 16.2% of its circulation year on year, leaving its total at 235,000 copies, which pushed it behind Men’s Health.
However, it still sits above Loaded and Nuts, both of which suffered substantial circulation declines over the six-month period.
