Mens Magazines Win Main Awards

The PPA Magazines ’95 awards saw more than 1,200 people attend the ceremony earlier this week which was hosted by comedian, Tony Hawks.

Men’s magazine Loaded (IPC Magazines) scooped two of the leading awards, winning the Consumer Magazine of the Year. The judges said: “Loaded has expanded and developed male magazines in a daring way by tapping into the male psyche. Loaded also received the award for consumer magazines editor, which went to James Brown. Other men’s magazines performed well in the awards with Stephen Bailey of GQ (Conde Nast Publications) receiving the consumer magazines columnist award, Rian Malan of Esquire (The National Magazine Company) winning the consumer magazines writer award and Arena taking the consumer magazines international magazine award.

Farmers Weekly won Magazine of the Year award in the business and professional catagory, Juliet Warkentin of Drapers Record is the 1995 Editor of The Year for Business and Professional Magazines. A full report of the PPA Conference ’95 will be on Newsline next week
