ITV1’s new five part series Collision secured the highest ratings during the all-important 9pm to 10pm slot again last night.
The hour-long crime drama, which has been scheduled to air at 9pm every evening this week, pulled in more than 6.1 million peak viewers and a 25.1% average audience share – a slight drop on yesterday’s 6.3 million peak viewers and Monday night’s high of 8.1 million.
However, despite losing viewers on its debut episode, Collision still managed to see off competition from BBC One’s popular thriller Spooks, which stars Peter Firth, Richard Armitage and Hermione Norris.
Spooks attracted 4.5 million peak viewers and a 18.9% average audience share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour. Although it slipped behind ITV1 in the peak-hour ratings war, the channel still sat well above the remaining three terrestrial channels.
BBC Two’s Andrew Marr’s the Making of Modern Britain picked up 2.4 million average viewers and a 10.4% audience share, while Channel 4’s new fly-on-the-wall series The Family pulled in 1.8 million average viewers and a 7.7% share.
Meanwhile, Five’s 9 o’clock film, The Longest Yard – the comedy remake starring Adam Sandler – started off on a low 664,000 viewers but managed to peak with 1.2 million viewers at around 10.30pm.
Earlier on in the evening, ITV1’s flagship soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street claimed the top spot between 7pm and 8pm. Corrie peaked with more than 8.7 million viewers and a 38.1% average share.
However, BBC One’s latest Waterloo Road series secured the highest ratings between 8pm and 9pm, pulling in more than 5.5 million peak viewers and a 22.8% audience share.
