TV Overnights: Second I’m a Celeb slips down to 9.7 million

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Katie Price’s much-publicised late entrance in to the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle failed to keep the show’s ratings above the 10 million viewers mark.

The second episode of ITV1’s latest I’m a Celeb series pulled in 9.7 million peak viewers, down for Sunday night’s 10.4 million peak.

However, despite slipping from its debut ratings, the programme’s 9.3 million average viewers and a 36.1% audience share put it well ahead of its rival terrestrial channels during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour last night.

The sixth episode of BBC One’s Life series with David Attenborough came second with 3.8 million average viewers and a 14.6% audience share, followed by Five’s popular FlashFoward, which attracted 2.1 million average viewers and a 8.4% share.

Channel 4’s week-long 3D series, meanwhile, kick-started with The Queen in 3D – a documentary featuring unseen 3D footage of the Queen at events she attended before and after her coronation in 1953.

The hour-long programme, which was especially commissioned for C4’s 3D week, attracted 1.4 million average viewers and a 5.7% audience share.  Derren Brown Presents the 3D Magic Spectacular – another show commissioned for the series – followed with 1 million average viewers and a 5.7% share.

Elsewhere, BBC Two’s new 9pm to 10pm peak-hour documentary – The Art of Your Wall with Sue Perkins – picked up 1.1 million average viewers and a 4.6% share.

Earlier on in the evening, an impressive 10.4 million viewers tuned in to see Coronation Street‘s dramatic Tony and Roy storyline climax.  The second episode of ITV1’s corrie peaked with 10.1 million average viewers, putting it ahead of BBC One’s Eastenders, which settled on 9.2 million average viewers.
