TV Overnights: I’m a Celebrity falls to 8.6 million viewers

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

The third episode of ITV1’s new I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! series lost more than a million viewers on Monday night’s show.

The series started off on an impressive high of 10.4 million viewers on Sunday, before dipping to 9.7 million peak viewers on Monday evening.  Last night’s show, meanwhile, slipped down to 8.6 million peak viewers and a 35.1% average audience share.

However, despite shedding viewers on the previous two nights’ episodes, ITV1’s reality show easily managed to secure the top spot during the all-important 9pm to 10pm peak-hour.

BBC One’s final Around the World in 80 Days failed to keep up with 3.7 million viewers and a 15.3% audience share.  Five’s CSI: Miami, meanwhile, just managed to pip BBC Two to third place with 2 million average viewers and a 8.3% share.

BBC Two’s Horizon: How Long is a Piece of String? pulled in an equal 2 million average viewers but lost out with a slightly lower audience share of 8.2% between 9pm and 10pm.

At the same time, the concluding part of Channel 4’s special The Queen in 3D attracted just 994,000 viewers and a low 4.1% average audience share.

Earlier on in the evening, BBC One claimed the highest ratings during the pre-watershed slot with Eastenders‘ 8.6 million viewers and Holby City‘s 5.8 million viewers.
