Google’s real-time search function is set to go live this week with social networking partners MySpace, FriendFeed and Twitter.
Real-time results allow users to see what is being said about their Google search term on Twitter, MySpace and FriendFeed as well as other social networks as the enquiry is being made, along with the usual Google results.
The new function will deliver a couple of results on the main Google page but will also give users the option to click on a full page of live tweets, blogs and other live content, which will update all the time, according to reports.
Users will also be able to personalise the settings so that they only see results from a selected site, such as Twitter.
Amit Singhal wrote on Google’s blog: “Our real-time search features are based on more than a dozen new search technologies that enable us to monitor more than a billion documents and process hundreds of millions of real-time changes each day.”
