ITV1’s I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! one-hour special “Coming Out” programme secured the highest ratings during the peak-slot last night.

The one-off show, which followed the celebrities including the winner Gino D’Acampo, Katie Price and Sam Fox as they left the jungle and were reunited with friends and family, attracted more than 7 million peak viewers and a 29.9% average audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

The programme, which puts an end to this year’s I’m a Celebrity series, saw off competition from BBC One’s penultimate Life, which pulled in 4.2 million peak viewers and a 18% average audience share during the same hour-long slot.

The ninth episode of Life, a nature series narrated by David Attenborough, focused on plants.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s new documentary series Man on Earth with Tony Robinson picked up more than 1.3 million average viewers and a 5.8% share between 9pm and 10pm.

BBC Two’s School of Saatchi, meanwhile, settled on a low 773,000 viewers and a 3.3% average audience share during the peak-hour.

Over on Channel Five, Tears of Sun, the channel’s 9 o’clock film starring Bruce Willis, attracted 1.3 million average viewers and a 6.9% share between 9pm and 11-pm.
