The soaps dominated peak time TV last night, with Emmerdale, EastEnders and a Coronation Street double bill all topping the ratings.
Emmerdale began the domination with an average audience of 7.1 million from 7pm, handing the baton over to Corrie at 7.30pm for the first in its double bill.
Coronation Street achieved a peak of 9.5 million in its first installment, with an average audience of nearly 9.4 million across its half hour duration.
EastEnders took over on BBC1 at 8pm, with an average audience of 8.7 million before Corrie completed the soap whitewash with its second installment at 8.30pm, watched by an average of 8.6 million.
The last edition of BBC1’s Life went out on a high, with a peak of 5.2 million between 9-10pm, despite strong competition from ITV1’s Out of My Depth, where Amanda Holden trained to be a midwife and assisted on a birth at West Middlesex University Hospital. However many viewers slowly left the programme, which peaked at the beginning with 4.5 million but ended with 3.8 million.
