ITV1’s A Night of Heroes: Military Awards secured the highest ratings during the all-important 9pm to 10pm peak-hour last night.
The special one-off programme, hosted by Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden, pulled in more than 4.8 million peak viewers at 9pm and a 19.2% average audience share between 9pm and 10.30pm.
ITV1 also banked the peak audience during its early-evening soap run with Emmerdale and two helpings of Coronation Street. Corrie pulled in more than 9 million peak viewers, while Emmerdale hit a high of 7.2 million.
However, BBC One claimed the top soap spot with Eastenders, which attracted over 9.9 million peak viewers and a 38.8% average audience share between 8pm and 8.30pm.
Later on, BBC One’s Crimewatch picked up a high of 4.1 million viewers and a 16.1% share during the 9pm to 10pm peak-slot, while BBC Two’s new Victoria Woods: Seen on TV programme pulled in more than 4.3 million peak viewers and a 15.7% share between 8.30pm and 10pm.
Elsewhere, Channel 4’s penultimate Man on Earth with Tony Robinson attracted 1.2 million average viewers during the peak-hour, compared to Channel Five’s new Michael Jackson: The Last Days documentary, which settled on a low 686,000 viewers.
