Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with Gordon Brown ended ITV1’s peak run last night after securing a high of more than 5.1 million viewers.

The one-off interview, which saw Morgan try to get to the heart of what makes the Prime Minister tick, attracted over 4.1 million average viewers and a 22.7% audience share between 10.15pm and 11.15pm, helping ITV1 to dominate the Sunday evening ratings.

The channel’s peak run started with Dancing on Ice, which pulled in a high of more than 9 million viewers and a 30.9% average audience share between 6.50pm and 8.45pm.

Wild at Heart followed with 7.8 million peak viewers and a 27.6% average share, before the Dancing on Ice: Skate Off, which peaked with 7.4 million viewers and a 29.5% share.

ITV1 managed to see off competition from BBC One’s Lark Rise to Candleford and Seven Ages of Britain, as well as BBC Two’s Live Winter Olympics coverage and Channel 4’s Derren Brown: Evening of Wonders.

Lark Rise to Candleford picked up more than 6.3 million average viewers for BBC One between 8pm and 9pm, while Seven Ages of Britain pulled in 4.5 million during the 9pm to 10pm peak-hour.

BBC Two’s coverage of the Winter Olympics, meanwhile, attracted a high of 3.1 million viewers and a 9.5% average audience share between 8.30pm and 10pm.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s Sunday evening line-up failed to compete.  It’s 8pm film X-Men pulled in under one million viewers and a low 3.6% average share between 8pm and 10pm, while Derren Brown: Evening of Wonders picked up an even lower 813,000 average viewers from 10pm onwards.

Five’s film schedule did slightly better – 50 First Dates pulled in an average of 1.5 million viewers, while Click secured 1.8 million average viewers.

On Saturday, BBC One mostly dominated the ratings with Live Six Nations Rugby coverage, the final of So You Think You Can Dance, Casualty and Live at the Apollo.

It was more of a mix on Friday, however, with BBC One’s Eastenders and ITV1’s Corrie both pulling in over 10 million viewers.  Although, ITV1 secured most of the evening’s peak ratings with a run of Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Dancing on Ice Friday and Pop Star to Opera Star.
