The latest television viewing figures, for January 2010, show that BBC One and ITV1 both suffered slight year on year declines in their viewing shares.
BBC Two, Channel 4 and Five were also down on January 2009.
Other channels managed to record a 2.3% increase, however.
All Viewing
BBC One’s share of viewing was down slightly, by 0.1 percentage point to 20.7%, while ITV1 was down 0.3 percentage points to 17.7%.
January saw the return of Dancing on Ice to ITV1’s Sunday evening line-up, and it kicked-off with a peak audience of 9.5 million viewers.
BBC Two fell 1.2 percentage points year on year to 6.9%, the largest decline when looking at all homes, with Channel 4 down 0.3 percentage points to 7.3%.
A 0.5 percentage point decline means that Five’s viewing share now rests at 4.2%.
Other channels were up 2.3 percentage points year on year to 42.4%.

Digital Viewing
In digital homes, ITV1 and BBC One recorded increases in share, with BBC One up 0.7 percentage points to 20.1% and ITV1 up 0.3 percentage points to 17.2%.
Channel 4 was also up slightly, by 0.1 percentage point to 7.2%.
Five’s share fell 0.3 percentage points year on year to 4.2% and BBC Two was also down, by 0.7 percentage points to 6.5%.
Other channels’ viewing share remained static in digital homes.

Sky and Freeview Homes
BBC One was the most popular terrestrial channel in both Sky and Freeview homes, with a 23.7% share in Freeview homes and a 17.5% share in Sky homes.
ITV1, meanwhile, has a 19.2% share in Freeview homes and a 15.4% share in Sky homes.
Other channels have a 51.7% share in Sky homes and a 33.7% share in Freeview homes.
