TV Overnights: ITV1’s UEFA Champions League coverage scores 8.7m viewers

ITV1’s Live UEFA Champions League coverage secured the highest ratings during last night’s prime time slot with more than 8.7 million peak viewers.

The Manchester United v AC Milan match attracted over 7.2 million average viewers and a 30.3% audience share between 7.30pm and 10pm, seeing off competition from BBC One’s new series Famous Rich and Jobless and BBC Two’s new documentary Inside John Lewis.

The second and last Famous Rich and Jobless, with Larry Lamb and Emma Parker Bowles, came in second in the peak-time ratings war with more than 3.5 million average viewers and a 14.% audience share between 9pm and 10pm.

At the same time, BBC Two’s new three-part documentary Inside John Lewis, which takes a look behind the scenes at one of Britain’s most-loved department stores, pulled in 2.7 million average viewers and a 11.1% share.

Elsewhere, Five’s long-running NCIS picked up over 2 million average viewers and a 8.4% share, while Channel 4’s Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares USA attracted 1.3 million viewers and a 5.4% share.
