Radio “Customer Charter”
The IPA has agreed a “Customer Charter” with the UK commercial radio sector, aimed to safeguard agencies’ and advertisers’ interests.
The agreement covers sales practices and accountability in the following areas:
Areas available for purchase:
* Open access to individual licence areas
* No conditional selling of areas
* All areas which have separate programming output and RAJAR research made available. Data and Technology
* Commercial radio sales points will publish details of minutage sold in the morning and afternoon peak segments The industry will move towards:
* Electronic publication of break content
* Electronic verification and reporting by variance
* Electronic data interchange
Derek Morris, Joint Media Director of BMP DDB Needham and the Media Policy Group member responsible for radio, said, “The growth of commercial radio has made it all the more important that it be at least as accountable as other media. This Charter improves the level of disclosure in radio and provides powerful benchmarks for radio buyers.”
