TV Overnights: New Tricks pips penultimate Married Single Other

BBC One’s long-running New Tricks drama pipped ITV1’s penultimate Married Single Other to the top spot last night.

New Tricks, which guest starred ex-Eastenders actor Shane Ritchie, attracted 4.3 million average viewers and a 17.1% audience share during last night’s 9pm to 10pm peak slot.

Married Single Other, meanwhile, secured a slightly lower 4 million average viewers and a 15.9% share during the same hour-long slot.

Elsewhere, Channel 4’s popular The Secret Millionaire, with businessman Fil Adams-Mercer, picked up 2.4 million average viewers and a 9.7% share, while Five’s FlashForward pulled in 1.9 million viewers and a 7.8% share.

Over on BBC Two, the last in the series of Sue Perkin’s A Band for Britain banked 1.5 million average viewers and a 6.1% share.

Earlier on in the evening, the soaps battled it out for the top pre-watershed spot.  ITV1’s Coronation Street just managed to beat BBC One’s Eastenders with 10.9 million peak viewers compared to Eastenders’ 10.1 million.
