MTV has formed a partnership with Primequity, a South African media company, and Johnny Clegg, the South African recording star to launch a 24-hour MTV Network in South Africa. MTV will apply for a broadcast license to launch the network in late 1996. MTV South Africa will also be available from launch via satellite to the rest of the continent.
