ITV is claiming that only 2% of homes targeted by Channel 5 have been successfully retuned and, based on the channel’s ‘current performance’, the 90% of homes which legally have to be retuned would not be completed until mid-1998.
Research was carried out on behalf of ITV by Continental Research and RSL and was based on a demographically representative sweep of 1,000 households within retuning areas during a week at the end of September.
According to ITV the poll revealed that during the first two months of the retuning programme, 52% of homes had received initial literature from C5, 3% had received a follow-up call to make an appointment and 2% received an actual visit.
