TV Viewing Summary – X-Files Is Doing X-Cellent For BBC1

The science fiction drama series X-Files continues to attract big audiences. The episode shown on September 19th, which was the second part of the cliffhanger from the previous series, attracted an audience of 9.19 million viewers and a consolidated share of 41%. This doesn’t however beat ITV’s detective drama series Taggart which was on at the same time; it had an audience of 10.28 million and a consolidated share of 45%.

Friends continues to dominate Channel 4’s top ten programmes list, this week’s episode being watched by 4.98 million. The only new entry on the list is the repeat showing of the film Abyss, which had 3.71 million viewers this time round.

Television viewing for all individuals over the age of four has fallen by 1.7% when compared to the same week last year. In Astra Panel homes viewing of all stations has fallen also, this time by 1.6%.
