More details have emerged regarding the fierce battle for readers among the Express and Mail titles *Newspaper War Rages On.

Next weekend the Daily Express will launch a 100-page glossy magazine, while the Sunday title will axe its Expresso supplement which launched in February *Sunday Express Expresso Replaces Classic and replace it with Boulevard. There will also be a 32-page sports section every day including Saturday and Sunday editions.

The Mail however is planning a counter-stroke by offering Express readers its own titles free for eight days and then half-price for six weeks. The Sunday title is also launching a new listings magazine called Programme next weekend.

…The Independent will also undergo a revamp. Starting from next Monday, to celebrate the paper’s 10th anniversary, there will be an improved Section Two and an expanded Saturday edition which will include the new listings guide The Eye *New Sections For Mirror And Independent.
