TV Overnights: ITV1’s Midsomer Murders wins the peak hour

ITV1’s Midsomer Murders won the 9pm to 10pm slot last night, securing a peak of 4.1 million viewers.

Starting at 8pm, the long-running drama managed an average of 3.9 million viewers and a 17.9% average share overall, beating last week’s 3.8 million viewers, and 16.9% share.

However, the first half of the two hour show was overshadowed by BBC One’s Celebrity Master Chef, which attracted an average of 4.7 million viewers, and an average share of 22.3%.

BBC One then lost viewers at 9pm, with Traffic Cops securing an average viewing figure of 3.7 million, and a share of 16.2%.

Elsewhere, Dragons Den on BBC Two attracted just under 3 million viewers and a 12.9% average share.

Channel 4’s Cutting Edge documentary, My Weird and Wonderful Family, managed an average viewing figure of 1.7 million, with a 7.5% share.

Five trailed behind with police drama NCIS, achieving 1.2 million viewers and a 5.1% share.

Earlier in the evening, ratings were split between ITV1 and BBC One. ITV1’s Emmerdale, airing at 7pm, attracted 5.9 million viewers and a 32.4% share, follwed by BBC One’s Penguin Island at 7.30pm, which secured 3.3 million viewers and a share of 18.4%.
