Microsoft is believed to be in the process of planning an online television channel called OnStage which will broadcast over the Internet.
Six channels will launch in America in December on Microsoft’s Internet service providing users with news, sports and entertainment programmes. The service is said to be as close to real television as current technology will allow. A UK-version of the service is expected to be launched in February by Steve Billinger, executive producer of OnStage UK. Independent TV production companies are being invited to provide programming for the service.
