Chisholm To Move To Star TV?

The head of British Sky Broadcasting, Sam Chisholm, may be appointed chief executive of Star TV, the Hong Kong based channel in which Rupert Murdoch bought a 63.6% share last month.

Sam Chisholm has been appointed ‘acting’ chief after last weeks surprise departure of Julian Mounter. The new chief executive will be announced in two weeks and it is expected to be Mr Chisholm.

This will cause problems at BSkyB; it is unclear if Mr Chisholm will stand down. Pearson, who hold 17.5% of BSkyB would press for him to leave, and be replaced by someone with no direct connection to any of its shareholders. News Corporation, however, who hold 50% share of BSkyB would prefer Chisholm’s second in command, Gary Davey, to get the job.
