Granada Announces New Organisation Structure
Granada Media Group has announced a new organisation structure designed to give its operations a better chance of competing in the changing media industry.
The new structure will give a separate focus to GMG’s production and broadcasting businesses and is aimed at expanding production business within and beyond ITV in the UK and in international markets. The new set-up will also enable GMG to exploit new and alternative means of reaching audiences through satellite, cable, video, CD-ROM and the Internet.
Two umbrella businesses – Granada International Productions and Granada UK Broadcasting – will spearhead the development of GMG’s production and broadcasting interests. Two new businesses – Granada Media Products and Granada Vision – will drive GMG’s expansion into the new media and international broadcasting markets.
Kate Stross becomes GMG’s commercial and media development director, with responsibility for GMG’s finance, commercial and strategy functions. Chris Hopson becomes GMG’s corporate affairs director with responsibility for media relations, government affairs and regulatory policy.
Laser will continue as a separate trading company selling the airtime of Yorkshire Tyne Tees, Border and Granada Sky Broadcasting as well as Granada TV and LWT.
